Stone Sculptures
Our stone carvings are hand carved from various types of stone local to Zimbabwe, there are four main types of stone which are soapstone, this is the most commonly heard of, of the stones, and is the softest and easiest to carve with, Serpentine is slightly harder than Soap stone and is widely used, this stone probably has the widest range of colours ranging from Green Brown Gold Black and the prettiest has to be Fruit Serpentine which has a wide range of colours in the same piece of stone, Opal stone is again slightly harder than Serpentine and is either Green or White, the Green stone can be a very dark uniform colour and range to a lemony green colour, the latter can look amazing when there are patches, strata and fault lines running through the sculpture, quite often the colouration of this type of stone will draw the attention of a customer rather than the style of carving. Lastly there is Spring stone this is the hardest stone and is very hard to carve, this stone is mostly black when polished with some brown and grey patches. There are other stones that are used these include Cobalt, Verdite and Leopard rock amongst others. All of the carvings are suitable to grace any garden or home and if placed outside are frost and weather proof.
