We are a family business starting our business in 2004 when Kes travelled to Zimbabwe to find talented Zimbabwean Artists creating amazing metal sculptures from recycled oil drums and other metal off cuts, and local carvers, carving the most wonderful sculptures from various beautiful stone from their local quarries using just simple tools, Kes watched how they turned lumps of stone into stunning sculptures. After spending 6 weeks in Zimbabwe Kes had bought enough pieces to fill a container . This was the start of African Creation. We continue to work very closely with the Zimbabwe artists to bring quality craft and sculpture at affordable prices, Many of the pieces that you see are our designs . Dealing directly with the artists allows us to be a truly fair trade company as the artists and their families receive 100% of the money that they charge for their creations.
Every sculpture whether stone, steel, wood or wire is uniquely hand carved or crafted making each piece a true original.
Our metal birds and animals are made from recycled mild steel or galvanised steel. Some pieces being a combination of both of these materials. Once in the UK we coat the sculptures with clear lacquer this means that the sculptures are suitable to live outside all year round. We recommend that a clear external varnish is applied annually, alternatively an aerosol lacquer can be used every 4 to 6 months.
We undertake commissions of all sizes, if you require something special please contact us with your requirements and we will be happy to provide you with a quote.
In 2009 we Created Travellers Finds. Travelling toThailand and Indonesia, we spend several weeks away a couple of times a year , where we travel around towns and villages in search of local carvers and Artisans. We are lucky enough to work closely with some amazing people and have built many woderful friendships over the years.
